Scott went to Lynchburg College to pursue a Theatrical career. Originally starting out as an actor, he quickly discovered the joys of working backstage. Those joys, combined with his less-than-stellar singing voice helped push Scott across the footlights. He built sets, worked with lights, worked running crew, and directed shows. He was the first student accepted into the directing class as a Sophomore and this gave him the opportunity to direct 3 shows while at college. He was also the first student to direct a full-length production, A Streetcar Named Desire. Scott graduated with High Honors and a BA in Theatre.
After college, Scott was offered a job as an ASM at Seaside Music Theatre in Florida for the 2001 Season. He worked on every show that season and found a great liking for Stage Managing. From there Scott moved northward to Boston where he was hired as the Tour Stage Manager and Company Manager for one of the National Tours sent out by Chamber Theatre Productions and stayed with them for two seasons.
Scott obtained his AEA membership from his work at the renowned Fulton Opera House in Pennsylvania. Hired originally as a non-equity Tour Stage Manager, he climbed the Mainstage ranks from Production Assistant to Stage Manager. During his tenure there, he was afforded the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, from intimate, small-cast straight plays such as Tuesdays with Morrie and The Lion in Winter to full-scale, large-cast musicals such as Ragtime and Carousel. He is grateful to have been able to work with directors such as Michael Mitchell, Marc Robin and Gary John LaRosa, among others. While at the Fulton, Scott was honored to stage manage the world premiere of Tim Slover’s Treasure.
After three seasons, Scott decided to take the next career step and relocate to New York City. During this transition, he was hired by Foothills Theatre Company as a vacation sub for A Christmas Carol, then asked to return to Assistant Stage Manage Evita and The Full Monty. Once he finally landed in New York, Scott made his NYC debut as the Production Stage Manager for the Off-Broadway production of The Attic with The Play Company.
Since debuting in NY, Scott has traveled the country working in more regional theatres. He spent a summer with Chester Theatre Company working on Grace. He also spent a Thanksgiving Holiday in Virginia Beach with Virginia Musical Theatre and a White Christmas. He began 2008 with 3 months in the bustling town of White River Junction, VT working with Northern Stage. He was excited to be hired as the PSM for The Price and even happier when they asked him to stay on and PSM Driving Miss Daisy where he had the pleasure of working with Catherine Doherty.
Thanks to his work with Elena Araoz on The Price, Scott was able to work with the Off-Broadway company, Redshift Productions as the PSM for Three on a Couch and Taboos shortly after returning from Vermont.
After spending 3 years in NYC, Scott was given the opportunity to take on the Production Stage Manager position for TheaterWorks Hartford for their 2008-09 season. With the understanding that it was for multiple seasons, Scott picked up and moved to Hartford, CT. Scott is now in the process of starting his 3rd full season with them.
